Happy American Day!

Ok, so A LOT has transpired since I last wrote...I'm going to have to just try to do a highlight reel.

Meaghann and I had a good day Friday. We went to the Airforce Academy and saw some of the new arrivals getting a lesson in the ol' left right. Afterwards we ran into one of the volleyball players who said that a teammate was enamored with her and would like to see her if we were going out that night. We ended up exchanging numbers (hers) and promising to get in touch later that night.

Anyway, after a two hour dinner (and no we are not slow eaters, it was the slowest service ever!) we headed over to the Ritz for a little steppin' out. The music was jammin' when we got there because the band had taken a break. I'm more of a fan of a good DJ. I tried a new drink, slow gin fizz, which I think I may have adopt as mine.

The rest of the night got a little interesting when I was playing wing girl in the 80s room so my dearest friend could enjoy her evening with Mr. 6'8''. Unfortunately I got a little creeped out later in the evening when I tried to tell his friend that I have a boyfriend and I'm interested in keeping it that way. He was very persistent and wanted to "just hang out" or "just talk" but I think after a while he got the message and finally left. I still feel a little creeped out by his persistence.

Anyway, Saturday was fun. Mary and I decided to risk our lives by doing the Skycoaster at Royal Gorge Bridge. The skycoaster was ranked scariest in the US (world?) because you not only drop and swing, but it swings you out over the 1,200 ft. + gorge! Fortunately Mary pulled the rip cord, but the ride ended up not being as scary as I thought it would be. I'm surprised that the guy three couples in front of us threw up on it. Must be a weeny!

After holding Meg's hand to cross the highest suspension bridge in the world (which also happens to have a wood planked floor with cracks up to one inch thick in it), we traveled on the incline railroad and then headed home. I was very exhausted so we decided to nix camping, stay in, and watch a movie. I had my PJs on by 8:00 which has its appeal at times. We watched the movie Hitch, which I wasn't very taken with. I didn't like Eva Mendes' character and was actually hoping that Will Smith would leave her at the end!

Sunday I took Meg to the airport, did a little (or a lot) shopping at the outlet mall, and took a nice 2 hour nap. Sunday night became a Finish Line night which never ends gracefully. I swore I would only have one drink (Red Bull and Vodka, another drink I learned about on Friday), but drinks just kept appearing in front of me at the bar so of course I felt obligated to drink them! :)
My little Canadian friend got a little crazy and had some costume malfunctions before being escorted home. The Karaoke lady dissed Mary and me as well as Jeff and me who were going to do renditions of "This Kiss" and "Song of the South." Very disappointing, but I did get to wear my gaucho pants, which were so much fun!

Yesterday was the fourth, and I was a little bummed to not be at the family Wiffle ball tourney (at which I would kick Adam's butt again!). Mary and I decided to go hiking. Little did we know when we started that the trail was going to be 8 miles long! I think we may be ready for Pike's Peak. Needless to say my knee hurts and I have a slight limp when I walk due to stiffness. Memorial Park turned out to be a great show, at which we had front seat action and saw a few of the fireworks blow up on the ground ( a little scary!). We also saw a weird alien firework that was green with a little parachute....not sure what that was all about!

Word of the weekend: "Coneever" -Matt from NH, talking about how women are such coneevers.

Song in my head: Don't really have one, I'm tired of all my music right now!
