Margaritaville

Ah, where to begin....so much has happened since I last sat down at this computer.

Yesterday was hump day basketball, which unfortunately had to be held on the tiny outside courts due to the gymnastics equipment in the gym. Not a stellar performance or game by any definition, but still a good time I suppose.

After bball everyone was pretty hyped to go out and get one or two margaritas, which sounded like an excellent plan to me at the time. However, once we arrived to the mexican restaurant bearing the Guiness Book of World Records Plaque for largest margarita, it soon became apparent that one or two margaritas just would not do.

Lesson #1 of the night: Do not throw down a margarita just because your friends are ready to leave. Either don't order that last one, or stay behind....It will only bring pain to you if you do.

After the mexican restaurant (at which I strangely received a t-shirt from a weird old guy), we decided that we needed some fun and entertainment in the form of Karaoke, and the Finish Line, a new favorite hot spot for the USOC interns. Unfortunately the weird scary guy that was at the pool tables I played at last time was sitting at the bar. Even with my best efforts to not make eye contact he still decided to come up and ask me my name, which fortunately upon telling him it he simply walked away and left the bar. I guess he must of had a bad encounter with a Sarah before.

From there, my one or two margaritas turned into two shots, and three or four cranberry and vodkas (I lost count). After several wonderful renditions of classic songs with the girls (Mary, the Canadian, and Austin), and a few sexy photos it was time to walk home.

Lesson #2 of the night: Do not bend down to pick up roommate's shoe without first looking behind you to make sure a crazy man is not getting ready to knock your ass on the pavement. All I remember is seeing the shoe, hearing Mary ask me to pick it up, and then pavement.

This morning was Olympic Day so I did not have to go to work until the afternoon, which is partly the reason for the madness last night. I actually woke up quite easily which was a surprise. At breakfast I was walking to my table when all of the sudden I heard someone yell "Sarah Newman!" Turns out it was Tim (International Games Intern) who was a little upset becuase he forgot to wash off the word LOSER from the back of his neck, which a certain blonde had written there at said Finish Line bar. Definitely a morning highlight maker!

At Olympic Day they broke us up into four groups by last name. I was on team China along with Danny, Jason, Laura, and Rachael. Learned about Curling, which is definitely not a sport that you see too often in the South. Unfortunately I did not win the fleece scarf. We then went on to play field hockey, and I have officially decided that field hockey players are crazy, because there was just a mad crashing of sticks during the game. I sucked at wiffle golf, but to those who have seen me at the driving range this came as no surprise, but a surprise in the late morning was handball. I finally got my prize at the last event of the day!

The unveiling of the statue was definitely just an arse kissing of the donor, but the donor seemed like an alright guy so I guess that is ok. The day ended with a BBQ and now I have returned, although weary, to work.

Two pet peeves of the day:
1. I hate women who absolutely can't play any sport and laugh when they are terrible. Stop being such a stereotypical woman!
2. Why would a woman think that it is ok to wear panty hose with open-toed shoes and a short skirt in the middle of the summer. Newsflash** that is not cute!

Quote of the day: "You wouldn't catch me dead in a boyscout uniform" - me
"You wouldn't catch me dead with a boyscout" -Jason

One last thing--going out with friends is great, but it stinks coming back alone without the BF. We are on week 4 and I think I'm at a hump..... looking forward to getting to see my better half again. "Besame suavemente mi amore"

Sorry this was so long, but much has happened. Much love to you all. Peace-
